Introduction to CBD
Commercial Building Disclosure (CBD) is a national program managed by the Australian
Government Department of Climate Change and Energy Efficiency. It was
developed by the Australian, state and territory governments to encourage the improvement
of the energy efficiency of Australia’s large office buildings.
Under the Building Energy Efficiency Disclosure Act 2010, an up-to-date Building
Energy Efficiency Certificate (BEEC) needs to be disclosed to prospective buyers
and tenants in most cases when office space of 2,000 square metres or more is offered
for sale, lease or sublease (see Legal responsibilities).
